SAOimage DS9 SAOimage DS9 is the latest astronomical imaging application from SAO (Smithsonial Astrophysical Observatory). You can start it up by typing ds9 at the prompt. It also works well with IRAF.
IRAF Online manual for the Image Reduction and Analysis Facility (IRAF). To get documentation go to FTP Archive under "Software". Another useful collection of links is under "Documentation": go to All Docs and then to Recommended Documentation for every site. IRAF Help under "Documentation" also has a description of all the packages.
SM (SuperMongo) SM is an interactive plotting program which you can use to generate plots on krishna. The command reference section is especially useful. To get you started, I put together a short Beginner's Guide. Once you read my guide, check out the SM Tutorial, which goes into somewhat more depth, but is not nearly as hard to navigate as the manual.
