I would like to write my paper on the feasibility of hydrogen replacing fossil fuels. I will explore the range of its projected influence and success, and how it is expected to affect the environment? Politics (both domestic and foreign)? Society? I would also like to learn more about whether the use of hydrogen is only possible with the increased use of nuclear power plants?

Peter Saeta: This is a very big topic, and I suspect you will need to sharpen focus as you learn a bit more. Lots has been written about the transformative character of the hydrogen economy, as well as its environmental benefits. The challenge, as discussed today, will be how to provide the energy to generate the hydrogen. Perhaps a good compromise would be to spend a few paragraphs laying out the benefits of replacing fossil fuels by hydrogen before turning to the issue of how we can realistically accomplish this with renewable resources (and/or nuclear power).
