Oral Presentations - Spring 2008

To help you choose a topic I've assembled a collection of Astrophysical News web pages from different astronomical institutions and news agencies. Each of these pages contains recent press releases, i.e. short articles describing important recent result. In addition, the physics department has a subscription to the Sky and Telescope, which you might also find useful. A stack of them can always be found outside my office. Of course, feel free to use any other sources of inspiration.

In addition to preparing the presentation, you will write a short (half a page to a page) article on your topic, in the popular science style such as your read in, say, Sky and Telescope. Ideally, your article will summarize your topic in general terms, so that you can focus on more technical points in your talk.

A selection of presentations topics from past years are available here.
