James Hettinger (CSU) constructed this movie of the internal structure of a 7-day old seedling,
cropping and rotating to expose an emerging leaf.
Internal structures of a sample can be visualized more readily with OCM by reducing the
"opacity" or "alpha" parameter that is used in volume-rendering the 3-D dataset onto a 2-D
viewing screen. Large values of alpha make the surface more opaque, making hard to see more than the surface.
Small values of alpha yield relatively transparent images, making interior features visible.
At the end of the movie the alpha parameter is reduced to reveal the internal
structure of an emerging leaf.
