| This movie was obtained in collaboration with Dr. Zhongping Chen and Dr. Hongwu Ren at Beckman Laser Institute (BLI) on the campus of UC Irvine, using their optical coherence tomography (OCT) instrument to image an albino type Xenopus embryo. Their data processing techniques allow detection of the motion within the embryo, both directed and undirected. The coloring scheme in this movie illustrates the variance in the motion of the sample. Blue represents regions with small variances in motion, red large variance in motion. It is interesting to notice that the yolk platelets, yellow and in the middle of the embryo, undergo considerable undirected (brownian) motion. |
